Massive pine trees that grow in the Scandinavian forests bring beauty and long life to our custom log homes. The fragrant smell of Pine, Cedar, Spruce or Fir mingles throughout your home. Our handcrafted log homes fit tight in every joint to ensure strength and quality that will last for centuries. A good example of a lasting timber structure is the London Bridge that has lasted for over 600 years. Our handcrafted log homes are far superior to factory manufactured homes, stand the true test of time and bring the owner closer to nature in a truly organic product once built by Scandinavian forefathers. To improve on your home while it is in the construction stage, we provide a free carved sculpture etched into the posts or stairway at no additional cost. The polished white pine will provide a clean organic surface with a continuous shine for years to come. Post and beam homes are an alternative to traditional log building styles. All of our logs are kiln dried before use in the construction of any of our homes. Kiln drying is a new process which condenses 10 years of shrinkage into 30-40 days at 180 degrees in the kiln. This prevents settling and incurring any extra construction costs. The construction of our homes has become more advanced in recent years. Computerized architectural designs allow for better construction utilizing the distinct features of the log. This results in more detailed precision cuts so the joints fit better preventing any movement at all. Post and beam uses open floor plans with a variety of wall or glass finishes. The structure of the outside walls is your log diameter and the interior walls can be log or timber with sheet rock. Roof purlings are either standard or bigger in diameter and up to 40ft in length. The R factor in our homes varies from R40 to R50, and they are totally sealed. The posts in your design can be from 12 to 25 inches in diameter.
The cost is less but the labor is more due to the detail of the structure which shows the natural forms. The log shell has been rebuilt and erected to make sure every detail fits into place before delivery to your site. No two logs are alike whether you are building a traditional log home or a post and beam home. Whichever you have chosen, it should have been considered as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The sight of your log home is breathtaking whether you are overlooking a valley, on the shore of a lake or have a mountain view. Exposure is what makes a log home beautiful and it will last forever.
